Opportunities in the Gulf water sector

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) comprises six countries: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). These countries have experienced high economic growth in recent decades due largely to wealth generated from abundant hydrocarbon reserves. This growth has been accompanied by a globally unparalleled rise in urbanisation, infrastructure development and overall improvement in socio-economic conditions. The region’s population has grown six-fold since 1970, with migrant workers from Asian and other Middle East and North African countries key contributors.
