Van 23 september 2024 00:30 Tot 8 december 2024 04:37In recent years, the number of global firms indicating that their executive compensation schemes are tied to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) metrics has grown rapidly. According to the global ISS Executive Compensation Analytics (ECA) database, the share of firms designating ESG metrics as key performance indicators (KPIs) for their executives has grown from 3% in 2010 to over 30% in 2021. This raises a number of corporate governance questions, such as (a) what are the reasons behind these arrangements, (b) how these ties are created and (c) what the outcomes are in terms of performance (both ESG and financially)?
The Joint Finance Committee of DutchCham and the BLCC is excited to welcome Professor Gaizka Ormazabal from IESE Business School (Ranked #3 in the World) for a Masterclass, sharing his insights into the "G" of the ESG framework. Professor Ormazabal's current research projects analyse recent trends in managerial compensation and the role of corporate governance in sustainable development. His research appears in leading academic journals.
Prof. Ormazabal received a PhD in Business from Stanford University and a PhD in Construction Engineering from Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya. Gaizka is also a Research Affiliate in the Financial Economics program of the Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), research member in the European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI), and Research Member of the Sustainable Finance Research and Policy Network (RPN). He is the Grupo Santander Chair of Financial Institutions and Corporate Governance and serves as academic director at the IESE Center for Corporate Governance.
