Ports & Logistics, India: Focus on Gujarat

Opportunities for Dutch Companies

Ports are the gateway to India’s economic growth; further development of ports infrastructure remains one of the most critical factors in the equation of the Indian world trade. Ports in India handle almost 90% of total international trade volume and nearly 70% in value.

In India there are 12 major ports and 200+ non-major and intermediate ports, spread along the 7500+ kilometers coastline of India. Gujarat is strategically located along the western cost of India with 1600+ kilometers coastline and above that providing the nearest maritime outlet to Middle-East i.e. Gulf countries, Africa and Europe. Location advantage and developed infrastructure combined with regulatory and taxation disruptions like the GST has opened up the sector with multiple opportunities which can be attractive for companies from the Netherlands who are active in the sectors of ports and supply chain.
