South Africa Country Report 2022

Between 2019 and 2021, South Africa underwent political changes and reforms to the civil service, and experienced disappointing levels of socioeconomic development.

This report is part of the Bertelsmann Stiftung’s Transformation Index (BTI) 2022. The BTI assesses the transformation toward democracy and a market economy as well as the quality of governance.
