Opportunities in the Gulf life sciences

The six Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman) have witnessed a substantial growth of the healthcare market in recent years. The introduction of health insurance, strong population growth, an ageing population, rapid urbanisation and lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular problems and obesity have contributed to an increased demand for high quality healthcare services1 . These investments have also resulted in substantial improvements in health outcomes, such as reduced childhood mortalities and increased life expectancy.2
